A whale leaping almost straight up out of the sea, with its tail still in the water. Its pale, grooved underside faces the camera. One long flipper is held out to the right and the other hangs down on the left. A large white splash rises around the base of the whale. The sea is blue with small ripples, the sky is pale grey-blue and hazy, and a faint strip of land is visible along the horizon.
