A wide, nearly empty pebble-and-sand beach curves from the lower left to the middle of the frame. The shoreline is dark grey with scattered rounded stones. Small white waves run along the water's edge. A single person stands at the waterline near the centre of the image, casting a fishing rod into the sea. The water is a bright blue-green. On the horizon to the right, the faint outlines of hills on a distant landmass are visible. The sky above is a clear, deep blue with no clouds.

On our final leg of Aotearoa's south Island Te Waipounamu, we stopped at a pebble beach, looking out across the straight towards Te Ika-a-Māui (the North Island). The beach was empty except for us, and a lone fisherman, who was suprised to see a couple of tourists find their way to that particular spot

This shot is "straight out of the camera" from my mobile phone.
